Welcome / About Harvest / Mission
Our purpose is to glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment.
What is the Great Commandment?
In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus says the Great Commandment is this: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind... and your neighbor as yourself".
What is the Great Commission?
The Great Commission is when Jesus tells those who are following Him to "go and make disciples." It is found in Matthew 28:19-20.
What is a disciple?
A disciple is a learner, a follower, a person, who is eager to apply the truths Jesus teaches. Disciples aren't people who think they have it all together and have everything figured out. They're people in progress - desiring to grow in love, grace, peace, hope and truth.
At Harvest, we describe a disciple by using three simple words: Worship, Walk, Work. No matter which Harvest you attend - in the United States, Canada or abroad - we all use these same words to help us accomplish our purpose.
First, a disciple is a person who worships Christ.
To worship Christ, you must know Christ and trust Him as your only hope of salvation. People who worship Christ will have the desire to connect with God and others who love Him. We give you opportunity to do this at our weekend worship services and at our monthly and quarterly worship gatherings.
Next, a disciple is a person who walks with Christ.
Once people begin to worship Christ, they realize their need to walk with Christ and make a commitment to spiritual growth and maturity. The best place for this to happen is in the context of small groups.
Finally, a disciple is a person who works for Christ.
When people walk with Christ, they desire to work for Christ by contributing their gifts and abilities to the building up of the church both here and abroad. There are many opportunities for you to serve at Harvest. If you don't know where to start, contact us and we'll help you find a place to work for Christ!
