The most important decision you will make in life is your decision about Jesus Christ.
Who do you say he is? Some say he is a good teacher, and others say he is a prophet. Some dismiss him as a fake while others claim he was just a man. Still others deny we can know anything for sure about the historical Jesus.
You already have an opinion. Have you thought through your opinion and considered what the Bible says about Jesus? Have you considered what Jesus says about Himself?
In Matthew 16:13-20, Jesus asked his own followers, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied by saying Peter was blessed because this was revealed to him by God.
In John 11:25, Jesus said to Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die." Jesus then asked her, "Do you believe this?"
The truth is, Jesus is the Son of God who came into the world to save sinners. He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and he now offers eternal life to all who call on him as Savior and Lord. Consider the following verses:
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
The Bible says we stand condemned in God's sight. If we do nothing, we will spend eternity apart from God in hell because of our sinfulness.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
The consequence of sin is death. God originally designed the world without death. We die because of sin. But God offers us eternal life as a free gift in Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:8 "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
God loves you and sent His son to die for you. Jesus died on the cross in your place to turn God's wrath away from you.
Romans 10:9-10, 13 "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 'Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"
You can have the peace of knowing your sins have been forgiven, and you will go to heaven if you call upon Jesus as Savior and Lord today. You can pray this:
Dear Lord, I admit I have sinned. I am condemned in your sight. I know you love me, and I believe you sent Jesus to die for me. I believe you raised him again. I ask you to forgive me for all of my sins based on what Jesus did for me at the cross. Come into my life, and make everything new. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer with sincerity, from the heart, God heard you and forgave you. Now He wants you to grow in a knowledge of His love for you. Be sure to attend church this weekend and tell the Pastor about your decision to make Jesus your Savior. If you have questions about spiritual matters, email us at
